What is Line Dancing?
Line dancing is a type of dance in which dancers line up in a row without a partner and follow a choreographed pattern of steps, turning to face different walls (2 or 4). It gained popularity in the country/wester genre in the 90s. Then expanded into other genres as time progressed. Because you don’t need prior dance experience, it is a style of dance that anyone can partake in. It involves simple side steps, weight changes, and turns. The complicated dances can be changed by skill level and simplified so everyone can join in. Many people line dance at parties and social gathering without even realizing it. Many popular dances include the Cupid Shuffle, Electric Slide, Cotton Eyed Joe, Cha Cha Slide and many more!
